Our recent experience includes:

  • Acting as the Outsourced General Counsel for a large international organisation which provides services to Australian and international educational institutions
  • Advising on the restructure of a University-owned commercial enterprise and on the restructure of a University commercialisation entity
  • Acting as trusted adviser to one of the four Learned Academies
  • Negotiating contracts with Australian and international universities
  • Advising on aspects of Australian and international privacy legislation and investigations
  • Advising on and structuring remuneration incentive plans for senior executives
  • Advising on international anti-bribery and corruption legislation

Geoff Rees has held a number of senior appointments in the education sector and as a representative of educational institutions. He was Representative Director of the University of Melbourne on Uniseed, a $60 million pre-seed technology commercialisation fund of three leading Australian universities for 14 years.  He was Chairman of the company that formed and then listed Melbourne IT Limited. In the course of that process, he dealt with the Auditor-General, many public compliance issues, the media, the NTEU and the Minister for Education. He was also Deputy Chairman of Melbourne University Private when it successfully obtained reaccreditation as an Australian University and Chaired He the Advisory Board of Melbourne University Sport for over 7 years.
